The Village of Cassville is seeking a person to join our team of workers maintaining Village streets, parks, and utility services. This is a permanent, full-time position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with a rotation of evening and weekend shifts each month. Overtime may be necessary due to an emergency situation or severe weather.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude while interacting with Village staff, residents, and visitors.
- Operation of equipment listed below, or similar, for several hours:
- End Loader
- Dump Truck with Snow Plow and Air Brakes
- Street Sweeper
- Pickup Truck
- Skid Steer
- Commercial Lawn Mower
- Wood Chipper
- Jackhammer
- Chain saw
- Landscape Trimming Equipment
- Any small power tools and hand tools
- Maneuver an equipment trailer behind a dump truck
- General maintenance of all equipment, including but not limited to:
- Oil Changes
- Hydraulic Filter Changes
- Greasing
- Tire Pressure
- Oil Gauges
- Spark Plugs and wires
- Wear parts replacement (ex: mower blades)
- Wash and shine equipment to prolong equipment life and promote a positive image of the Village.
- Assist with swimming pool, water utility, and sewer operations.
- Maintain Village lawns and other landscape areas. Mow grass, rake, spray weeds, water flowers, etc.
- Cut and trim trees, brush, shrubbery, etc.
- Repair Village-owned property, such as buildings, picnic tables, playground equipment, boat docks, car ferry landings, etc.
- Clean and maintain public restrooms.
- Assist with evening and weekend events in the Village, including setup, tear down, and clean up.
- Repair and maintain streets.
- Exterior painting: street and curb lines, buildings, bridges, etc.
- Street and sidewalk snow removal.
- Assist with storm sewer repairs and maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works.
Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Motor Vehicle License, or be willing and able to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
- Must possess a Wisconsin Swimming Pool Operator’s License, or be willing and able to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
- Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds repetitively, plus sit, walk, bend, and reach for long periods of time.
- Must be physically able to climb stairs and ladders or work on an elevated platform up to a height of 30 feet.
- Must be able to withstand working outdoors in hot, cold, and inclement weather.
- Must demonstrate good judgement of distance to operate Village equipment in the presence of people and around obstacles such as parked vehicles.
